Real Intersection Design
Get Rid of Rhetoric, Leaving Theory Behind for Design
Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University, New Jersey Department of Transportation Office of Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs
"This report documents a workshop created to deal with poor intersection design in Ocean City. It presents the findings of different teams sent out to investigate problem intersections and offers a synthesis of the ideas presented. It is not meant to be a complete intersection analysis report, an effort which would require more extensive data collection, field visits, research, calculations and discussion. Nevertheless, it is expected that Ocean City will use this report in their efforts to improve the West Avenue corridor."
Extensive photos and diagrams illustrate the process.
