Crash Type   Bicvclist rode out - no Stop sign  --   7.1%

In this crash type, the bicyclist enters an intersection (64% are signal controlled) without stopping and fails to yield to a motorist traveling through the intersection. In approximately two-thirds of the crashes the cyclist is hit in the first half of the road and 31 percent are riding the wrong way against traffic. One third of the cyclists are hit in the second half of the road and a further 13 percent of riders are riding the wrong way against traffic.

This crash type is similar to the previous type except that the intersection in question is either uncontrolled (no stop sign or signal) or signal controlled (64% percent of the crashes). In either instance, the bicyclist fails to yield to a motorist in the intersection. With these crashes, the bicyclist is much more likely to be riding on the sidewalk (24 percent) and/or riding the wrong way against traffic (44 percent).

Countermeasures
-- Bicyclist education
-- Decrease wrong way riding
-- Enforcement
-- Check bicyclists are being detected by signals
-- Check clearance timing for cyclist
