School Transport 2007: 5th Annual Conference

This annual conference comes at a crucial time for school transport services. There is a whole raft of recent and forthcoming government legislation and policy which will greatly impact upon how school travel In the coming months the Education and Inspections Bill will be passed and will create new requirements to provide sustainable modes of transport, new arrangements for eligible children and promote choice and diversity. The Local Government White Paper will require services to be delivered efficiently and to respond to its users needs. The DfT's Efficiency Action Plan will provide guidance on new joined-up approaches to efficient school travel planning. The conference will look at how to support other services to meet requirements within Youth Matters and Every Child Matters, such as providing travel for Extended Schools and enabling children and young people to access leisure and cultural activities.
